Solar Pumps

Why choose solar pumps over a windmill?

Pumping whilst the sun is shining, running on power only from solar panels using the latest MPPT ( maximum power point tracking) to maximise pumping time, solar pumps offer an excellent hassle free pumping solution to replace or upgrade your existing pump or windmill setup.

Solar Pumps feature low maintenance, are easy to install, have little to no recurring costs and virtually operate themselves requiring only sunlight to pump. Compared to windmills which often require maintenance and repair / replacement of parts which is often costly and labour intensive, furthermore if there is no wind there is no water. However a solar pump will pump whenever there is sunlight, and even on overcast / cloudy days.

We carry a range of both Submersible & Surface mounted solar pumps, and our factory has a complete range to meet each & every requirement. The solar pump control unit drives the high efficiency brushless DC pump motor, using the latest Solar Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology to make sure it’s pumping to the best of its ability under all light conditions, even moderate cloud cover. The controller also protects the pump from frequent starting in very low light conditions, overheating & running dry. Low water level sensors & tank full sensors are included in our solar pump kits, so the pumping system can be fully automated – forget having to check on your tank constantly! The low water sensor sits in your well or dam – above the intake of the pump. If the water level falls below the sensor, the solar controller will shut down the pump. Once the water level rises above the sensor, the controller delays pumping for half an hour to ensure the water level is sufficient before pumping again. The included tank sensors sit at the top & bottom of the tank. When both probes are submerged, the controller shuts down the pump. Once the water level drops below the top sensor, the controller starts the pump.

Submersible Dam Pump Setup

Another successful solar pump set up- this time mounted in a cradle to be submerged in a dam, notice the design setup of the cradle to ensure the pump never touches the bottom of the dam in the event of a low water level.

WINDMILL UPGRADED TO SOLAR PUMP

This tired old windmill is now fitted with a submersible solar pump. The pump used is the Pumpman 80 which is capable of delivering around 1000ltrs per hour ( 200 gallons). The pump is under ground pumping a total head height of around 30 metres. The pump is being powered by 1x200w solar panel which is mounted on top of the windmill stand.
